Bank Jaguar, Brittbrian Express
Speedy five-year-old JAGUAR and importee BRITTBRIAN EXPRESS are standout bankers on Saturday's Reggae 6, which, along with the Twilight 6, has had its $3.5 million minimum-guaranteed payout extended through May.
Bankers will be key to spotting both exotic bets, especially Reggae 6, which has a single-winner bonus set to exceed $7 million should one lucky ticket emerge from what could be a knotty afternoon, starting with the opening event.
Take no chances with the first Reggae 6 event, a five-furlong straight dash akin to a water jump in a steeplechase. Cases can be made for at least seven of the 10 runners in the optional claiming event, ranging from speed to back-class and consistency.
On their best day, KING'S MAGICIAN and SEBASTIAN should wipe out $250,000 claimers at any distance. However, KING'S MAGICIAN hasn't raced since November 2022 and the clockers have only spotted SEBASTIAN at exercise twice this year since he ran a mile last June, finishing next to last.
Nevertheless, $180,000 and $250,000 claimers are unpredictable as the weather, making fools of even the most seasoned pundits, hence it is best advised to keep both KING'S MAGICIAN and SEBASTIAN on Reggae 6 bets instead of weeping and moaning after the fact.
STANISLAUS is the quickest in the line-up and has a rider with good hands, Oshane Nugent, who could nurse home the six-year-old. UNDECIDED appeared sound when winning at the trip on last and returns well drawn on the faster stands' side to be afforded a chance of repeating.
After mobbing the opening event, catch a breather with JAGUAR, who won't be caught, in the second at five furlongs straight. However, do not underestimate Gary Subratie's KAI ON THE GO, taking on stablemate COOKIE DAY N NIGHT and SUPER ALEX in the third at seven furlongs.
Like JAGUAR, BRITTBRIAN EXPRESS can be used safely to close the Reggae 6. The Philip Feanny-trained foreigner was fast catching SHE'S A MIRAGE when the post intervened on last.
BRITTBRIAN EXPRESS is also one of two Twilight 6 bankers, the other being IS THAT A FACT, Jason DaCosta's foreigner, who chased home ATOMICA in the Viceroy Trophy a month ago.
